日本的福尔魔斯????

Finished Mouryou no Hako. You know what this anime reminds me of? The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes and other old detective stories. Akihiko Chuzenji is clearly the detective here, extremely intelligent, extremely knowledgable, amazing deductive reasoning, and a certain grace. Even the plot progression follows the same pattern, first some long dialogue about mouryou that does nothing to the story but only shows off his intelligence, then everyone gathers around to listen to his reasoning on the case.

Score: 8/10

Recommend: only for the atmosphere.

最好的热血!

Finished Voltage Fighter Gowcaizer. I give it 8/10. Best adrenaline-pumping series I’ve seen. It has everything I could possibly ask for from this genre: hardcore actions, half-naked girls, bishies, yellings, great animation, plot that doesn’t make any sense, and flamboyant dialogues that would make any emo’s head explode.

Recommend: hell yeah!

男性版的妖精旋律

Dropped E’s Otherwise after ep8. I give it 5/10. Reminded me of Elfen Lied, except it sucks. I really don’t know (and don’t care) where the plot is going. And the animation is really average. Where do people get the idea that this show has good animations. 50% of times you don’t even see people moving except their mouthparts.

Dropped Gundam Wing after ep12. I give it 7/10. It has a good start but still suffers from too many plot holes and one-dimensional characters, especially Relena the psycho bitch.

Also finished Vampire Knight Guilty. Also a 7/10. I’m glad that it ended with KxY. Kaname is just better than zero in every aspect.

爱天使传说很有爱

Dropped Wedding Peach after ep12. I give it 7/10. It’s quite funny but I guess Shoujo crap is just not my type. Better than Sailor Moon though.

女装骑士(Le Chevalier D’eon): 10/10

Le Chevalier D’Eon is the best anime I’ve seen and is the only one that I consider to be perfect in every aspect.

Theme
The theme is just great. It basically tries to discuss what is considered to be true loyalty: should you only be loyal to your king, or should you also be loyal to your country, or maybe even to your own conscience? The best part is how they delivered this great theme. The writers didn’t give out their interpretation right away. Instead, using almost every character, even the king himself, the show offers a variety of different interpretations of loyalty, and let the viewers decide which one is the true loyalty. It really shows that the writers do have a deep understanding of what they are trying to deliver.

Plot
The plot rivals that of A Prayer for Owen Meanie which is my favourite novel. It has some religious elements but never relies on them too much. It has a lot of government conspiracies and political conflicts but never forgets asking questions toward its theme. It tries to discuss a more or less philosophical question but the plot is full of twists and never becomes dull. The story also takes the viewers to different countries in Europe at that time which is very interesting to watch, especially to a person who has little knowledge in European history such as myself.

Characters
Simply perfect. They really did a great job developing the male lead who initally holds a strong sense of loyalty to his king but starts to question it as the story progresses. All the side characters are great too. All of them have some great backstories and none of them are truly good or evil. I think the best part is that most of them do actually have an air of true knight and noble chiasma, something you rarely see these days.

Music
The OP, ED, and BGM are all great.

Animation
You may be disappointed if you are looking for any basketball-sized eyes. Instead, this artists followed a more realistc style throughout the show, and I absolutely love it. The animation is gorgeous, especially in the combat scenes and the breathtaking background design.

I strongly recommend this show to anyone who is sick and tired of all the shounen crap these days. Not only does it let you really think about life, but it may also give you some pointers on writing.

Kage Kara Mamoru!: 6/10. Dropped after ep6. Sometimes it’s funny but the female lead is a retard.

Blue Submarine No. 6: 7/10. I added this anime into my “most overrated anime” list. It basically says:” look, forgive your enemies even if they are the ones who started the war, even if they are the ones who killed your family, even if they are the ones who raped your wife, even if they are the ones who….”

Chaos;Head: 7/10. It had a really good start but somehow lost the suspense in the second half. The ending is not terrible but I didn’t enjoy it a bit.

Hokuto no Ken – Raoh Gaiden Ten no Haoh: 7/10. My first anime from the Hokuto no Ken franchise. Not bad at all. Sure the plot could’ve had more twists, and the characters could’ve had more developments, but I don’t think that’s what made Hokuto no Ken a classic in the first place. It’s the raw violence and actions that really draws people in.

Ghost Hunt: 7/10. Dropped after ep8. Could’ve been a lot better. They should’ve only focused on telling some good and scary ghost stories and building up the eerie atmosphere. Instead they decided to include a “detective-conan” sort of thing which just didn’t work for me.

A long list….

Finished a list of animes: Kurozuka, Hakushaku to Yousei, Ga-Rei Zero, Cyborg 009 (2001 remake), Shikabane Hime: Aka, and the three Tekkaman Blade OVAs.

Kurozuka: 8/10. Good animation, hardcore actions, intense plot, eerie atmosphere, you can’t ask for more from an action series.

Hakushaku to Yousei: 7/10. True, the plotholes are everywhere. But throwing in a bunch of bishiesXcuties sure look nice.

Ga-Rei Zero: 7/10. The unconventional opening sure is engaging but also leaves some huge plot holes. The female lead is also very very annoying.

Tekkaman Blade–Twin Blood: 9/10. Absolutely brilliant. I wish they can make a new tekkaman blade series based on this. Already on my top five OVA list.

Tekkaman Blade–Burning Clock: 8/10. Good story but I don’t think it fits that well with Shinya’s personality. Emo-Shinya?

Tekkaman Bade–Missing Link: 1/10. This gotta be the worst adpatation I’ve seen. They actually made Aki into a whore!!!????? WTF???!!!!!

Cyborg 009 : 8/10. Dropped after ep12 only because I can’t find the rest of the series. I won’t say much except I absolutely love it. I actually thought I would hate it because it’s another superhero show from the 80s. Turns out I was totally wrong. The plot is very intense and has very few plot holes. The nine cyborg characters are all great. They all have great dialogues, very genuine emotions, and great backstories of their own. Such an incredible series. I’ll try to find the DVDs when I go back to China.  

Shikabane Hime: Aka: 7/10. It has the potential but it definitely needs more work. Firstable the male lead is extremely annoying. I understand what setup means but this is just too much. He literally killed his own brother. I hope to see some changes in him in the coming second season.
